What We Do

Variety Place Association supports individuals with disabilities fostering their independence and relationships within the community. Variety Place Assoc. Inc. operates three provincially funded and licensed Group Homes. These homes are staffed 24 hours per day and provide personal supports and care, medical care, meals, recreation, transportation and socialization.

Variety Place Group Homes

Harris House

520 Thomson Street

Harris House Group Home is the first of three Variety Place Assoc. Inc. Group Homes, being built in 1990. The group home houses six individuals with varied and diverse needs. There are four permanent full time and five permanent part time staff members that work at Harris House. This group home was named after Renate and Ken Harris; one of the founding families of Variety Place Assoc. Inc.

Perry House

806 Conquest Avenue

Perry House Group Home is the 2nd of the three Variety Place Assoc. Inc. Group Homes, being purchased in January, 2009. The group home houses seven individuals with diverse needs. There are four permanent full time and two permanent part time staff members that work at Perry House. This group home was named after a past board director; David Perry.

Latimer House

608 Aspen Drive

Latimer House Group Home is the 3rd of the three Variety Place Assoc. Inc. Group Homes, being built in 2011. The group home is a two storey home with two apartments on the upper level. These apartments house independent and supported living participants. The lower level of the two storey home houses seven individuals with varying needs. There are six permanent full time and three permanent part time staff members that work at Latimer House. Latimer House was named after Mrs. Margaret Latimer; a parent of a past participant of Variety Place.

Day Program

601 Conquest Avenue

The organization has seen significant growth through the years and now supports 26 individuals and is one of the larger employers in the community. We offer many different activities for the participants to engage in, plus we operate a wood shop and a small storefront. We partner with SARCAN to operate the SARCAN Recycling depot in Outlook.

Did you know? From mid November to mid December Variety Place is home to the "Second Hand Christmas Store." Shoppers can find a wide variety gently used Christmas trees, decorations, and ornaments that are sure to add a special touch to your holiday season. Thinking of contributing? Recreational programming enriches the lives of Variety Place residents, and we actively support & encourage their participation. We offer a diverse range of activities and events, both in-house and through community partnerships, to ensure engaging and fulfilling experiences for everyone.
